What should you do when you consume nicotine?

With the popularity of e-cigarettes, vapors are often faced with: dizziness and vomiting due to accidental inhalation of highly concentrated nicotine salts vape juice (50mg/ml); overdose of disposable vape by adolescents due to curiosity; and cardiovascular disease anxiety triggered by long term nicotine effects.

I. Risks of nicotine intake
1. Mild reactions (common in new vapors)
Symptoms: dry mouth, rapid heartbeat, slight hand tremor and nicotine buzz effects;

Level: ingesting 0.5-1mg of nicotine (about 5-10 puffs of e-cigarette).

2. Moderate intoxication (requiring urgent intervention)
Symptoms: nausea, headache, blurred vision, elevated blood pressure;

Level: 1-4mg nicotine (equivalent to 1ml of 3% vape juice).

3. Severe poisoning (immediate medical attention)
Symptoms: convulsions, dyspnea, cardiac arrhythmia;

Level: 4-10mg nicotine (lethal dose for children is 10mg).

4. Nicotine and heart disease
30% elevated risk of cardiovascular disease;

Impaired brain development and memory loss in adolescents.

II.
What should I do if I overdose on nicotine?
Immediately stop intake: open windows and ventilation to reduce environmental residues and make nicotine poisoning first aid.

Replenish water and sugar: drink 500ml sugary drinks (e.g. orange juice) to relieve hypoglycemic symptoms.

Adopt a semi-recumbent position: elevate the head to prevent asphyxiation from vomit and loosen the collar to keep breathing open.

Monitor vital signs: If heart rate is >120 beats per minute or vomiting persists for >1 hour, call emergency services immediately.

Essential information for medical attention: Inform your doctor of the type of nicotine (free base/nicotine salts), amount and duration of intake.

III. Scientific use program for e-cigarette users
1. Dosage control
Safe intake (adult): ≤0.5mg/kg body weight/day

Calculation example: 60kg adult daily intake of up to 30mg nicotine (≈ 1ml 3% vape juice).

2. Choice of device and vape juice
Prioritize the use of low power devices (e.g. LANAVAPE LANA IRIS) and avoid high concentration atomization;

Gradually reduce the nicotine concentration (from 50mg → 35mg → 20mg), transition with nicotine-free vape juice. It will help you to quit smoking.

3. Metabolic acceleration techniques
Drink more than 2L of water daily to promote renal excretion;

Supplement with vitamin C (500mg/day) and N-acetylcysteine (NAC) to reduce oxidative damage;

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to boost the rate of nicotine metabolism by 50%.
